Our Connections

Our projects at the Botanical Gardens are focused on promoting a connection between nature and people. We believe that by exploring our gardens, visitors and students gain a deeper understanding of our urban natural world and its direct and indirect benefits to our daily lives.

Come experience our plants, its wildlife, and its significance!

Connect Nature & People

Here is a small gateway to the fascinating worlds of ethnobotany and ethnozoology! We are dedicated to exploring the intricate relationships between humans and plants/animals through the lenses of culture and tradition, in the past and the present.

Connect with Animals

Some of the animals that visit our garden are residents of our garden while others may be seasonal migrants. Mammals, insects, and birds are the most common fauna you'll find in each of the showcased plant macrohabitats.

Connect with Plants

Many of our plants have been selected to show the diversity of Southern California's vegetation in our neighboring and unaltered macrohabitats: Chaparral, Oak Woodland, Coastal Sage Scrub, and Desert. We have also included an area with showstoppers of ancient Earth, containing plants that evolved millions of years ago which are still living today.
