A deciduous tree-shrub with pear-shaped fruit, blooming May-July. Its fragant flowers attract many native bees and butterflies.

Small shrub with small leaves, hummingbird-pollinated. White-lined sphinx caterpillars are herbivores of this species. 

Usually found on gravel and sandy slopes along washes of the Chaparral and Coastal Sage Scrub

A woody shrub with leathery leaves in groups and the flowers vary from white to pink. Bee pollinated.
